JoeFrex Digital Coffee Scale with Timer
Good product for its purpose, suitably sized
JyrkiGreat budget scales
Great scales on a budget. Does everything you need for espresso.
Disadvantages (which are ok for a budged):
- noticeable delay when weighing. But it can be accounted for by stopping your shot in advance.
- not water proof. Have partially mitigated this by sticking clear tape over screen and buttons.
JoeFrex Digital Coffee Scale with Timer
Good product. Excellent service. Convenient.
G.D.Slow but functional
Rather slow scale, but at least it's affordable.
CDBad bad bad
I bought this product a few years back. Just bought a second one and the electronic has changed a lot. There is now a latency in the reading which makes it practically unusable for my scenario (Cafelat Robot). Nothing wrong with the shop but stay away from that product.
D.B.Does not work as an espresso scale
Far too slow to respond to weight changes. And extremely poor price/quality ratio. Feels like a 150 kronor scale
M.E.Slow weight update
Good form factor, but the scale is a bit slow to update the weight - overall, the scale works well, and the buttons are easy to press and provide good feedback in the form of mechanical clicks.
J.K.A decent and affordable scale
The scale is very simple, and it takes about the time of opening the package to learn the basic functions. The device remembers the previous setting, so you don't have to change units or anything every time.
If I have to come up with something negative, it's that the lid doesn't fold 180 degrees against the table, and removing the lid is a bit tricky.
Small and functional
Due to its size, it is excellently suited for use with an AeroPress. It's also convenient for small pour-overs directly into a cup. With a larger pot, it requires a bit of squinting, but I have managed to use it with, for example, a Hario 02-sized glass pot. The small delay in the display update requires some anticipation and might cause some frustration.
Someone else complained about the timer stopping automatically, but my scale's timer does NOT stop when the weight is lifted off the scale, which is definitely a plus. I've been using it daily for almost two months for coffee and other purposes, and the included batteries still show 2/4 bars.
Other than the display delay, the only minor downside is that it would be handy if the protective cover could be completely removed. An excellent device - especially for this price!
Works for some purposes
Fits my Cafelat Robot well but is way too slow for any pourovers for me. And even with the Robot you see there is about 2-4g of "lag" but once you get a feel for that you can pretty well hit +-1g in the end.
Also not protected and had small spill and now the buttons are a bit sticky sometimes.
Good coffee scale
Measures accurately and quickly. It hasn't been in use for long, so I can't assess the battery life. The device is somewhat lightweight, which makes measuring with a press handle somewhat difficult, but otherwise there are no complaints. Due to its small size, it doesn't take up much space.
MSSlow response time
The scale is compact and precise, but my main comment is the slow response time. So you have to stop the brew process few sec. in advance.
VladHandy coffee scale
Doesn't take up much space, yet it still fits a sufficiently large measuring cup, making dosing easy and relaxed.
MappeInput lag
Unfortunately there is a huge lag between the weight and what is indicating in the screen. If you want to weight your espresso, this won't work due to this lag.
TarcisioThank you for your feedback! It sounds like the scale is not working properly, could you please contact our customer service, so we can take a closer look on this matter.
easy and functional
Solid, easy to read, accurate. A nice addition to my espresso setup.
PJSmall surface
The scale is too small to be used with a pitcher, as the display gets covered. If you brew directly into a cup, it probably works well.
MagnusNot for "scientists"
For its price, it does the job. I have some trouble taring the portafilter sometimes, but all the rest works fine: calibration is easy, timer works fine. If you want more accuracy, perhaps there are other models, but at a cost. For an average coffee drinker is more than fine.
Pedro dos ReisPerfect choice for Cafelat Robot
The transparent lid could be removed and the scale perfectly fits to Cafelat Robot.
Accurate! I have test it with etalon weights 5, 20, 50 and 100g.
Accepts NiMh batteries.
The only problem is that is not a water proof and requires careful usage.
Cost-effective
A cost-effective scale that is easy to use. It weighs quickly and accurately. The plastic cover is a bit of a distraction when used on the espresso machine, but otherwise, I mostly have positive things to say about the product.
KarlSmall and convenient scale for the home barista
Small and neat scale that fits under the standard portafilter on my Gaggia Classic Pro with a medium-sized cappuccino cup. The timer function is a bonus.
SebastianCompact
Accurate and compact. Maybe a bit too compact because the entire portafilter doesn't fit on the scale. The integrated timer is a great addition: it's easy to track when the coffee starts flowing and when the right amount is achieved.
PaleJoe Frex scale
Works well and I am completely satisfied
Joe frex vågCompact scale with good value for money
I needed a scale that fits on the drip tray of an espresso machine to weigh shots. This one turned out to be just the right size for that task. Accuracy also seems good for the price.
The only downside I can think of is that the timer turns off when the weight is removed. So it doesn't fully suit my pour over routine for this reason.
In terms of value for money, it's really good. I'm glad I didn't buy a more expensive one (like an Acaia Lunar), as this one works perfectly for me.
It also came with a leather storage pouch, which is unnecessary for me.
Looks like cheap
The scaling mechanism works as expected. Weighing time is within 1 sec (very quick respond), great precision. The scales are quite sensitive - even the weight within one gram is rather quickly detected and measured.
The scales came with visible marks of either manufacturing or transportation defects like scratches and irremovable spots on the painting. Besides, Time button gets jammed from time to time, so it's required to tap on it a few times to release it. The lid is not properly fixed in the bearings, so it easily gets off the scales while in use. There is no proper fixing mechanism locking the lid in close position either.
Good basic scale
Handy small and sufficiently accurate scale for various measurements. It also fits on the platform of even a small espresso machine, so espresso shots can be measured effortlessly. Plus points for the timer and on/off button, so the timing can be done at the same time and it does not turn off by itself.
