Equipment for making Cold Brew coffee

It's easy to brew a larger amount of Cold Brew coffee so that it lasts up to a couple of days. You'll need a French Press coffee maker or a Cold Brew pot or bottle including a coffee filter, or any other sealable jar and a coffee filter. And also fresh cold water of course.

The choice of coffee beans and roast degree affects the flavour of the Cold Brew. Darker roasted coffee with chocolatey and nutty flavours are great when you want to add milk to your Cold Brew, for example South American or Vietnamese coffee beans. Lighter roasted African coffee beans with sweeter berry-like and citrusy flavours mix well when you want to add tonic or soda to your Cold Brew coffee.

##Instructions:

  • Measure approx. 12 grams of coffee per decilitre of water, ie 120 grams coffee per litre of water.
  • Use filter ground coffee or grind your coffee beans to a filter- or French Press coarseness.
  • Put the coffee grounds in the pot or in the filter and add cold water.
  • Seal the bottle or pot with a lid and place in the fridge over night, or at least let brew for 8 hours.
  • Remove the coffee filter or press down the plunger filter of the French Press, and your Cold Brew is ready to enjoy.

The proportions of coffee and water vary a little between Cold Brew recipes. Some use the same proportions as for hot filter coffee, ie. 6-7 grams of coffee per 1 decilitre of water, but in this case you need to let the coffee brew a bit longer than 8 hours, more like 12-36 hours.
